London street photography workshops

LONDON STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS

In an intensive workshop, I share my method as to how to bottle moments of magic and coincidence in London’s art galleries and museums. Participants will learn how to observe, and capture fleeting alignments of visitors, artworks, gestures and life, turning the gallery into a living street-like environment. Through guided shooting and discussion, the workshop examines how meaning and wonder can emerge unexpectedly when people, images and space briefly intersect. The focus is on attentiveness, timing and visual intuition - training the eye to recognise moments that cannot be staged, only noticed. Take your street photography inside.

NEWS…

I have one group workshop scheduled for the rest of 2026 and it will be Saturday May 30th in London. Send me a DM/email if you want to be on the waiting list for when it’s on sale.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A full day of tuition in street photography in London’s galleries. All the museums and galleries we’ll visit will be free to enter. I like to start around 10am and finish at 4pm.

I allow a maximum group size of 4 to give you as much tuition time as possible.

  • Cost of lunch, camera equipment, travel on public transport between sites and any further refreshments.

  • I teach only a small handful of group workshops a year so there’s every chance that they wont coincide with your preferred date. If that’s the case, please get in contact. There’s always a chance that I have other dates in the works.

Also I keep the price of my private workshops to a minimum partially for this reason so have a think whether these might suit you better.

  • Please bring a camera that you feel comfortable using to at least a basic level. Knowledge of aperture, ISO, shutter speed and all that jazz would be lovely although none of it is essential. I’ve taught everyone between beginners using an iPhone to award winning professional photographers.

  • I'll be in contact with you soon after you sign up for the workshop. It'll also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions. Also please do remember that I’m a London tour guide professionally so if I can help in any way with any other part of your trip, assuming you’re not local to London, then please don’t be shy. Maybe you’re coming to London with friends/family and they are looking for things for them to do whilst you’re on the workshop? You'll receive detailed instructions as to where we'll meet closer to the time.

  • We’ll meet over coffee and start to get to know each other whilst I go over the full plan for the day and give an introduction.

In the morning we’ll head into our first gallery/museum where we'll do a quick tour and I’ll explain my process and how you can start taking your own street photographs in galleries and museums. We’ll take a short break but not for long. Enough time to refuel and to feel a bit rested but then we’ll get started again. Those photos won’t take themselves.

After lunch we’ll take the tube to two more galleries and we’ll finish with a debrief which is a highly technical photographic term for we’ll go for a drink and much deserved sit down.

Expect to start around 10am and finish at 4pm.

  • I try and keep the private workshops at a reasonable price and they might be your best bet if a place on a group workshop isn’t available for you.

The price is the same for one or two people. For groups of more than two people, please ask for a quote.

  • Due to the economics of wanting to keep the group sizes small I have to make the workshops non-refundable but if you can’t make it and you have someone else to take your place please get in contact as soon as possible. Moving your booking to a different date may well be possible too.

  • A more traditional non-gallery/museum street photography workshop can be booked privately.

TESTIMONIALS

“Just a few words to express what a great time I had taking part in your workshop last week. Right from the off you put me at ease and provided a great deal of advice with regards to preparing my camera and myself for the day ahead.

You have a talent for teaching and I picked up more in the first few minutes than hours of youtube videos. It was a pleasure walking around the galleries talking about the various things to look out for when trying to take some photos in your style.

You were so knowledgeable about the galleries and London it made the whole day really informative. The icing on the cake was to get  a great image exactly as I had hoped for. The whole day was so relaxed it just felt like walking round London with a mate taking photos. Thank you so much for the experience I would definitely recommend your workshop to anyone interested in street and gallery photography.”

Paul Harrison’s gallery photography workshop was a really enjoyable experience. He shared so many useful tips and tricks, and it felt more like walking around with a friend who knows a lot about photography. What I learned wasn’t just for galleries or museums – it’s been really helpful for street photography too. I came away with new skills and a fresh way of looking at things. Definitely worth it for anyone who enjoys photography.

“Attending Paul’s workshop was an eye opening experience. I have been a fan of his work for some time, so thought I knew roughly what the workshop would entail. However, my expectations were exceeded by Paul’s observational skills and his methodology for how to approach a shoot and put the pieces together to create rich images. I would recommend Paul’s workshop to all skill levels, he’s a great teacher and put together a very fun and valuable day of photography.”

“Had a great time at Paul’s photography workshop yesterday. Paul, a highly skilled street photographer, possesses a remarkable ability to capture the intricate connections between art and life. He shared invaluable techniques on discreetly and respectfully observing, planning, anticipating, and capturing fleeting moments. The workshop seamlessly blended my two passions—art and photography—into a truly enjoyable experience.”

It was an absolute pleasure meeting Paul for his gallery photography workshop. Seeing his process for forming remarkable pictures that capture the beauty of people as they observe and interact with masterpieces was fantastic. As a complete amateur/enthusiast photographer, it was great to meet other attendees at the workshop and also receive feedback from Paul. He really took time at the end of the workshop to spend some time providing open and constructive feedback.
