These quiet streets have witnessed some of the most dramatic moments in British history — from the Blitz and the Great Fire to the Plague and public executions.
Along the way you’ll see memorials to Protestant martyrs burned alive under Mary Tudor, discover where William Wallace met his end, and locate one of London’s most significant Black Death burial grounds.
But this walk is not all dark history. We’ll pass through the most beautiful Tudor gateway in the City, explore alleyways barely changed in 400 years, and visit the church featured in Four Weddings and a Funeral.
You’ll also step inside the haunting shell of a church destroyed during the Blitz and visit a small park containing London’s most moving memorials to self-sacrifice.
